Grotta delle Meraviglie (Maratea, Basilicata)

This is "Grotta delle Meraviglie", the only tourist cave in Basilicata.
It opens up in the municipal territory of Maratea and is the smallest tourist cave in Italy.
The cave is a single room about 70 meters long by 20 meters wide with an average height of 7 meters.
Its entrance is located at 76 meters above sea level and was discovered in 1929 during the construction of the "S.S.18 delle Calabrie".
The cave is based on carbonate lithotypes of the lower Cretaceous belonging to the complex of the Giagola and Gada mountains and has carbonate concretions of the stalactite and stalagmite type.

Here we have a little host of the cave, a bat (order: Chiroptera).
